The United States Postal Service (USPS) has recently announced that by May 2011, they will be requiring mailers to replace POSTNET™ and the PLANET Code® barcodes with Intelligent Mail® barcodes. USPS revises five-day delivery plan

The US Postal Service is now planning on stopping delivery to street addresses and some processing, but it will not close post offices. Originally, USPS planned to shut down processing on Saturdays and Sundays. These changes are in response to business mailers in order to process remittance mail on Saturday. Remittance mail includes payments from customers to businesses as well as checks that banks send each other. Cutting Saturday processing would have meant that checks would not move for two days. This service, along with Priority Mail and Express Mail, is ideal for sending personal correspondence, handwritten or typewritten letters, and bills or statements of account. It may also be used for advertisements and lightweight merchandise. First-Class Mail prices are based on both the shape and weight of the item being mailed. Postal Service Mailing Services Prices to Change on May 11

Annual Pricing Review Results in 2¢ Increase in First-Class Mail Stamp WASHINGTON - The Governors of the U.S. Postal Service have approved new prices for mailing services, including a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail stamp to 44 cents. Prices for mailing services are reviewed annually and adjusted each May. The new prices will go into effect Monday, May 11. 2009 USPS Price-Change Stamps Unveiled

New Forever Personalized Stamp Envelope Introduced WASHINGTON - A noted author, a philanthropist and a racehorse champion are among the subjects featured on the Postal Service's 2009 price-change stamps. In addition, a new Forever personalized stamped envelope is being introduced. "The stamps we are issuing cover a variety of subjects and will have wide appeal across many audiences," said David Failor, manager, Stamp Services. "We are especially pleased to introduce a new Forever personalized stamped envelope. It will make quite an impression."
